AN EVENING AT HOME IN THE BOLIVIAN AMAZON

  • by Katherine Ku and Sydney Miller

Abstract

In this project, we wanted to help to connect past peoples to present ones, building a bridge by reminding our audience that humans from the past are still humans and that they are more similar to us than we typically recognize. Modern portrayals of ancient people are often oversimplified and inaccurate, with the complexities of their life and customs winnowed down to stereotypical objects and scenes. Our project consists of objects and scenes from everyday life that draw connections between past and present home and family life by offering a more complete perspective of the past, beyond the gold, jewels, and treasures often emphasized by modern popular media. To accompany these models, our research serves to put these objects in context with accurate information about their production and use.
