RealArts@Penn

RealArts@Penn, a new project of the College of Arts & Sciences, is intended to support creative Penn undergraduates doing art in the realm of practice. RealArts is sponsoring six paid summer internships - at MTV Networks, Rolling Stone magazine, Brooklyn Films, Shore Fire Media, Grand Central Publishing (former Warner Books), and Women Make Movies. Yes, RealArts will pay you a stipend to work in such venues. (And we're happy to say that RealArts internships and programs are open to students in all four undergraduate schools.)

Why are we doing this? What other projects will we sponsor? How do you apply? Go here to find out more.

P.O.V.

Produced by American Documentary, P.O.V. ('point-of-view') is television's longest-running showcase for independent non-fiction film, premiering 14-16 high-impact documentaries every year on PBS. Hailed by critics as among the most important and relevant programming on television, P.O.V. films have won every coveted television and film award, including 18 Emmys, 11 George Foster Peabody Awards, eight Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Broadcast Journalism Awards, three Academy Awards, and the Prix Italia. We accept applications on a rolling basis.

Research and Development - Research is critical to the development of P.O.V.'s programs and activities. Intern responsibilities include: researching, writing, editing and proofreading, as well as general administrative duties and other special projects as needed. This is a hands-on internship. Those interested in surfing the internet and chatting online need not apply. Qualifications include: excellent research and writing skills; initiative, strong organizational abilities and attention to detail. Familiarity with online research tools like Nexis is helpful. The research internship requires a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week. Internships are unpaid; college credit can be arranged. Travel stipend available. To apply, please submit a résumé and cover letter demonstrating your writing ability and detailing your interest in the internship and P.O.V. to Jessica Lee at jlee@pov.org. Please be sure to list "Research and Development Internship" in the subject line.
